Various papers include: the list and Constitution, 1827 May 6, of the Fork Union Sabbath School with John Hartwell Cocke as superintendent; minutes, 1874-1878, of the Wilmington Grange of the Order of the patrons of Husbandry; a map of the 1907 Jamestown Ter-centennial Exposition Grounds; and an inventory of sales of slaves and personal property at the Galt family estate "Glenarvon." Further material from the Fluvanna County Historical Society offers letters, ledgers, soldier and slave lists, and financial papers as further insights into life in Fluvanna County ca. 1779-1925. The diary, 1864-1876, of a Fluvanna farmer, James Galt, describes his farm and the weather as well as reports on: battles; General Philip Henry Sheridan's occupation of the farm; Lincoln's assassination; Andrew Johnson's impeachment; notes on the Allan family; and Galt's election to the Virginia State Senate.
